Publisher Independence & Academic Governance
MetaResistome is an independent, international peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to antimicrobial resistance (AMR), whole-genome sequencing of high-threat clinical and environmental pathogens, and wastewater-based metagenomic epidemiology.
Governed exclusively by active researchers and free from corporate commercial publishing constraints, MetaResistome’s editorial decisions are guided strictly by scientific rigor, experimental reproducibility, and public health impact.
Hybrid Publishing Model: Author Choice
MetaResistome operates as a Hybrid Journal, providing authors with complete flexibility to satisfy their institutional mandates, funder requirements, and personal preferences upon manuscript acceptance:
- Gold Open Access Option: Authors may choose to publish their article under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. Under this option, the article is made immediately, globally, and permanently free for anyone to read, download, share, and reuse with appropriate attribution. Authors retain full, unrestricted copyright.
- Subscription Publishing Option (Zero APC): Authors who do not possess grant funding or institutional open-access support may choose the traditional subscription publication model. Under this route, zero publication charges or author-facing fees are applied.
Editorial Rigor & COPE Compliance
MetaResistome firmly adheres to the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Every manuscript undergoes:
- Rigorous Anti-Plagiarism Screening: Evaluated for text recycling, redundancy, and ethical attribution.
- Double-Blind Peer Review: High-impact submissions undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent subject-matter specialists.
- Mandatory Data & Code Deposition: Authors must deposit raw high-throughput sequencing reads (NCBI SRA/BioProject) and analysis scripts (GitHub/Zenodo) to ensure full computational reproducibility.
